IT CAN BE DIFFICULT REMAINING HOPEFUL AND ADJUSTING TO LIFE’S CHANGES

THE PROBLEM: I’m talking about the fatigue, frustration, resistance and sometimes even fear that we battle when life just keeps throwing more changes our way. We’ve heard it before but what exactly does it mean…

‘Life is always changing but Christ does not!’

THE WORD: First of all we need to know this statement is true and written. Then we need to step into it.

James 5:7 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

There are all kinds of ways we can step into Christ. Let’s look at some:

  • GIGO: Garbage In Garbage Out…Good Stuff In Good Stuff Out. This means putting on great inspiring music, podcasts, blogs, etc.
  • Invite in the Trinity: Ask God to be with you throughout your day, with all decisions you need to make, and while you sleep.
  • Prayer: Alway. Include a relationship in your prayer, ask boldly, thank God passionately, confess humbly, and proceed faithfully.
  • The company you keep: One of the quickest ways to wipe out the work God can and is doing in our lives is by busying up our minds with things other than God. Do we keep company-devote time-with those who are not God-fearing and loving? Their advice, actions, and direction with the move away from Him as well. We want to and need to be spending out time and investing our heart, mind, and soul with individuals that will be adding to our relationship with God.

THE GIFT: Well, I think one of the most difficult things about changes is the fact that we can’t know what that change will be like. How long it will last. If it will be the last change you need to endure for a while. Will it get worse or improve…. and so it goes.

Now, if our focus is on God, His plan for our life, His teaching, His direction, His love… we begin to not worry about the uncontrollable of the world. All will be fine with the Trinity on our side. God graciously loving us regardless of our situation. The Holy Spirit living and breathing in us regardless of what we must bear during these life changes. And last, Jesus to wipe away footholds that might want to keep us stuck in a difficult change.

THE CHOICE: We have free will… Do we want to trust in the world? This unpredictable world that knows our weak spot and often gets us when we are down. Or, do we want to trust in the Lord, His ways, His strength, and His power to move through with grace, healing, and restoration?
